BackPacking!
Well I have officially starting my big trip, and everything is going well! On Saturday April 3rd I arrived and flew into Salzburg, where I met a local on the plane who was a big help and insisted that I can`t get lost in Salzburg because it is so small. Stephanie was a big help and gave me good directions to my hostel! On Easter Sunday, I was up a 6am and started exploring around Salzburg! I went to Mirabell gardens, Mozarts birthplace, Hozzenhoff Castle/Fort, and took a cable car up to Uttensburg mountain! I pretty much did it all in one day and couldn`t believe how cool the city was! It was beautiful! Sunday night I made it down to the bar in the hostel, where I ended up staying all night as I met a bunch of new faces and friends! There were cheap steins of Steinzl Beer, the local beer, and everyone was there for a good time! This morning, Monday I hoped on a train from Salz to Münich, where I arrived got lost in the huge central train station. I worked my way out to the current hostel where Im updating from and took a brief nap. I actually just got back from touring the Octoberfest ground and the Giant Statue of Bavaria! I payed 3€ and got to climb up and look out the statue, pretty unreal!!! I have seen so many beautiful sites and attractions already it is so cool! I do all my touristy exploring during the day, then make it back to the hostels just before dark.
Traveling alone is bittersweet, it has its perks and its downfalls.
Sometimes I wish I could share my experiences with someone, and at times I do (in hostels, etc), but at flying solo also makes it more challanging and thrilling. It really is the ultimate challange, to test your social and communication skills in the world!
I still can`t believe I am here in Münich Germany! The hostels have been great so far, been able to shower daily and put all extra stuff in lockers they provide. I am looking forward to tonights free Bavarian Beer tasting in the bar here in the hostel, then its to bed somewhat early, because I am planning a long day of sightseeing/exploring! Probably will be renting a bike to get around the city!! Thats it for now, gotta run, time is money on this thing, will try update every few days…

Hi Gulliver, “Here’s to your European World Travels!” They sure are impressive from what you have so expertly described with your very professional narration, genuine excitement & positive desire to learn worldly cultures & geography.
The itinerary you have planned is awesome! If you do visit Belgium, we think you would enjoy “Brugge”, a medieval, scenic & delightful city. Raise a “Leffe” ale for us! Our china cabinet proudly displays a souvenir ale chalice (as shown on the internet)for the “suds” that we drank at a local tevern there. Pull up “Leffe Beer”-founded at an Abbey in 1152 & recently taken over by Budweiser. Serving & drinking of Belgian beers is “ritualized” to a greater extent than it is in most countries. The key element of this ritual is the use of a specific, often “branded glass”, as shown in the internet photo.
We are so proud of you!!!!!!!!
Love you!!!! Gramma & Pappy
